What is a neck lift?

A neck lift surgery is a cosmetic procedure that is designed to improve the appearance of the neck by removing excess skin, fat, and/or muscle tissue.

There are two different type of neck lift surgery:
  • Cervicoplasty: In this procedure, excess skin is surgically removed from the neck.
  • Platsmaplasty: This procedure reduces the banded appearance of the neck by removing, tightening or realigning the muscles of the neck.

The classical neck lift procedure is generally safe and takes roughly 2 weeks for it to properly heal and recover. You can also choose to get a deep plane neck lift surgery which compared to the classical neck lift procedure, the deep neck surgery is a more dynamic procedure designed to work beneath the supportive platysma muscle.

Neck lift techniques

Approaches to neck lifts can differ from a patient to another and can be performed differently from a surgeon to another.

The classical neck lift procedure involves making incisions behind the ears and under the chin, through which the surgeon can tighten the muscles in the neck, remove excess skin, and sculpt the remaining fat to improve the contour of the neck and jawline.

Deep plane neck lift NYC

A deep plane neck lift is a type of neck lift surgery that is designed to provide more dramatic and longer-lasting results than a traditional neck lift procedure. This technique involves repositioning the underlying facial muscles and tissues, rather than simply removing excess neck skin and fat.

Dr. Mourad is known for high quality neck lift surgical techniques.

How much does a Neck Lift NYC cost?

On average, the cost of a neck lift in NYC can range from $5,000 to $30,000, and this typically includes the surgeon's fee, anesthesia fee, and facility fee. The cost of a neck lift in NYC can vary widely depending on several factors, such as the surgeon's experience, the extent of the surgery, and the location of the clinic. Higher end prices include adjunctive procedures such as neck liposuction, lower face lift, and the need to address other anatomical layers.  It's important to note that the cost of a neck lift may be higher if additional procedures are performed at the same time, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery. Additionally, the cost may vary depending on the type of neck lift technique used.

If you are planning to get additional procedures or combinations of procedures, make sure to discuss it with Dr. Mourad!

Can a neck lift fix a double chin?

Yes. A neck lift can help improve the appearance of a double chin, which is often caused by excess fat and loose skin in the neck area. During a neck lift procedure, the surgeon can remove excess fat through liposuction and tighten the skin and underlying muscles to create a smoother, more defined jawline and neck contour. This can help reduce the appearance of a double chin and create a more youthful, sculpted look in the neck area.

What is the neck lift recovery process?

The recovery process after a neck lift can vary depending on the extent of the surgery and the individual's healing process, but generally, it involves the following steps:

1. Swelling and bruising

Following your surgery you will experience swelling and bruising in the neck and jawline. This is very common after a neck lift and may last for several weeks. Cold compresses and elevating the head can help reduce swelling and discomfort.

2. Dressings and drains

Your plastic surgeon may place dressings and drains around the incision sites to help with healing and prevent fluid buildup. These will typically be removed within a few days following your surgery.

3.Pain management

Facial plastic surgery can be painful. So don't worry you may experience some pain or discomfort after the procedure, which can be managed with pain medication prescribed by your plastic surgeon.

4. Activity restrictions

You will be advised to avoid strenuous activities and exercise for several weeks after surgery to allow your body to heal properly. Discuss with your surgeons if you have any daily activities you are not sure you can still perform.

5. Follow-up appointments

Your surgeon will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and remove any stitches or sutures. Make sure you comply with your surgeon follow-up appointment request, this is critical for your recovery process and your results.

6. Results

It can take several weeks to months for the full results of the neck lift to be visible as swelling and bruising subside and the skin and underlying tissues heal. Patience will be key in your recovery process, so follow your surgeon guidelines and things should go well.
